Learn how to create or use your Apple ID in the iTunes Store without a credit card or other payment method.

If you already have an Apple ID

You can choose to remove the payment method associated with your existing Apple ID after logging into the iTunes Store, App Store, or iBooks Store. You will not be prompted to specify a payment method until you make your first purchase.

On an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Open the App Store app and find a free app.
  2. Touch Get Next to the item.
  3. When prompted to sign in with an Apple ID, tap Create Apple ID.
  4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen. When entering your payment information, select None.
  5. Once you have entered your information, you are prompted to confirm your Apple ID by email. You will only be able to use your identifier once this formality has been completed.

On a Mac or a personal computer

 

On a Mac, use the App Store.

If you have a personal computer, find a free article in the iTunes Store, try to download it, and then follow the prompts to create an Apple ID.

On a Mac

  1. Open the App Store on your Mac.
  2. Under Shortcuts on the right side of the window, click Apps and Free Games.
  3. Click Get an app, then Install App.
  4. When you’re prompted to sign in with an Apple ID, click Create Apple ID.
  5. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen.  When entering your payment information, select None as the payment type.
  6. Once you have entered your information, you are prompted to confirm your Apple ID by email. You will only be able to use your identifier once this formality has been completed.
